Homily: Pentecost Vigil Prayer Service

The apostles were transformed by their encounter with the Risen Christ and by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. If we are to really live in the power of our faith, we must all seek a richer encounter with the Risen Christ and recognize in his glorious wounds the great price of our salvation. But for our conversion to really continue, and our total transformation to take place, we would also need to beg from God a profound renewal of all the Pentecost gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Homily: Fourth Sunday of Easter

Throughout the Easter Season, the readings are taken from the Gospel according to John. In John's Gospel, Jesus manifests who God really is. Christ became human precisely to reveal God the Father to mankind. To see and know Jesus is to know the full revelation of God. The Word of God came to share our humanity, so that we could share His divinity. This is the cause of our boundless Easter joy. All believers should strive to make God visible in our lives, to become living Gospels of His love.

Readings:Acts 13:14, 43-52
Psalm 100
Revelation 7:9, 14b-17
John 10:27-30

Homily: Men's March Mass

Psalm 116
John 6:60-69

Psalm 30
Revelation 5:11-14
John 21:1-19

Homily: Holy Thursday

In the Mass, time dissolves; we enter into divine reality. Our lives should be transformed by what we celebrate together. We are responsible for living the miracle of the Mass in all that we say and do.

Psalm 116
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
John 13:1-15

Click here to listen or download. (Duration: 8:10)

Homily: Mass for Life, The Fifth Sunday of Lent

The free choice to accept or reject grace is always ours to make. This Passiontide, are we ready to let Christ change us, or will we just drift away, like the scribes and pharisees?

Readings:Isaiah 43:16-21
Psalm 126
Philippians 3:8-14
John 8:1-11

Homily: Laetare Sunday

Our God is a most merciful and indulgent Father. His love transcends all human practical wisdom. What an encouraging Gospel message for a Sunday on which the Universal Church rejoices! We are all invited to return to our Father's house.

Homily: The Third Sunday of Lent, Cycle C

To whom much has been entrusted, much will be expected. God will generously offer years of mercy, but judgment is inevitable when his pleas for repentence go unheeded. The calamities of this passing world should call us to a more intentional way of living.

Readings:Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15
Psalm 103
1 Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12
Luke 13:1-9

March 4, 2007

Homily: The Second Sunday of Lent, Cycle C

Lent can too easily become just an annual routine, only a comforting ritual, merely a pious habit. If we were ever really ready to wake up in faith, to rise up from our slumber and daze, from a comfortable religion, everything about us could be born again, in the power and grace of the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Readings:Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18
Psalm 91
Philippians 3:17-4:1
Luke 9:28b-36

February 25, 2007

Homily: The First Sunday of Lent, Cycle C

A good leader leads by example. Jesus, fully human and fully divine, showed us how to fast by his example of withstanding temptation after 40 days of fasting in the desert. We, as Christians, should also witness by our examples.

Psalm 91
