Why did you become a seminarian?

In the intimacy of prayer I got to know Jesus’s Sacred Heart and His great Love for me. He instilled a great desire in me to abandon all my pursuits and serve only Him and His Church. A year before I entered seminary I asked the Lord to guide these strong desires and He spoke clearly to me through His Word in John 21, where Jesus asks Peter 3 times if he loves Him and invites Peter to follow Him. I often saw myself in St. Peter, and Jesus’s words to him pierced into my soul. Months of discernment followed and confirmed what this invitation was: Jesus invited me to love Him through answering the call to the priesthood as He said, “Follow Me.”

What did you do before seminary?

Before seminary I attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology where I received a BS in Computer Science. I spent a lot of time at the Newman Center there, where I learned the joy of prayer and authentic Catholic fellowship.

An interesting fact about you:

During a January hike in Utah, I climbed to the top of a snowy mountain in jeans and tennis shoes. This was completely unplanned.
